Week 2
This week the search for more members continued to little success however we found a new member in Gerda who is a friend of Samuele’s at first these results were discouraging but lecturer Gavin Wade brought up in a lecture that there will be people not assigned to a team and so if we just put our names in we will be assigned someone who needs a team.
As it stands right now all of the members seem more keen on the programming side of the project so hopefully the randomly chose members we get have an interest in graphics and the artistic design of the project.
However since I wish to take up the producer role on the team I got to work in one of the ways I could snd that was brainstorming as to what kind of game I want to create. In the past i had previously mentioned making solo projects that ultimately never came to fruition and from doing those I’ve learned if I am not making something that I would want to play myself I am not gonna see the best results. That means no more turn based combat games or rpg’s for me!
And so I started looking into the games that I enjoy the most such as the old classic Sonic games as well as modern day indies such as Dead Cells and Downwell, and all of these games surprisingly had a huge trait in common, that being their emphasis on speed and encouraging you to play the game as optimally and as quickly as possible. This combined with there steep learning curve and often harsh difficulty made for an addicting gameplay loop for me and this is something I strive to replicate in this project.
For the games gimick I want to incorporate some kind of depleting meter that once its empty the game is over, this will hopefully give players a sense of panick and urgency and keep them engaged whilst also incorporating the speed mechanics as mentioned previously.
I will be striking up these ideas in a lab meeting next week with my hopefully new found co-workers or teammates.

Tasks at Hand
- Gather the troops and definitively set up the roles of the team.
- Fully realise this idea by deciding on its gimick, art style and vibe.
- Begin character designs.
What I Learned
- Unlike other work places your own enjoyment is something that could ultimately effect the end product in this field so it is important I factor that into my creative process.
- I will have to adjust my way of communication and be formal from my usual sloppiness when working on my own as I have other individual’s schedules to take into account.
- This industry is no joke and one that will take a lot of work to fully realise our vision in our short time frame that we have.
